About the Layouts

Here I will discuss the difference between the various type of layouts to help you make up your mind when deciding which type of layout you would like to use for your site. I will also list a general direction as to help to download and use the layouts provided on Klandestine Designs.

So what is exactly the difference between div layers, tables, and iframes?

I think the difference between div layers and iframes, and tables and iframes are pretty obvious since their overall design look different enough. However, the differences between div layers and tables are not so obvious unless you look at the codes themselves. Iframes and frames in general are pretty useful when your hosting service (ie: geocities) does not support php. Php includes makes updating navigation and changing layouts alot easier and it is the same with frames. Frames usually consist of one page with codes that pieces the individual sliced images in place to make a "frame", while the content are on a separate page that is targeted to "main". Div layers and tables look similar in design yet very different in codes. Div layers have tags begin with "div" while tables have tags begin with "table". Using div tags can make positioning content and navigation on a site easy, while tables offer more organization. I often use div and table codes in combination.

Now that we have covered the basic differences between div layers, tables, and frames, I think you would have a easier time to decide which type of layout to use. Remember, each type have its own pros and cons, so try to match the type of site of you want to create with the type of layout you want. Below I will list some general instructions as to how to download/use the premade layouts offered here:

1. To download a layout, click the download link and save the zip file in a location you prefer.
2. Now go to My Documents in the Start menu and find the location where you saved your zip file, right click and select "extract files" and specify the location.
